The Island Council of Menorca launches the electoral process to renew the members of the Mahón-Menorca Cheese Regulatory Council

The Department of Economy and General Services of the Island Council of Menorca has launched the electoral process to renew the members of the Regulatory Council of the Mahón-Menorca Cheese Designation of Origin.

On 16 September, the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) published the regulatory bases that establish the electoral procedure, officially initiating all the actions planned within the calendar.

On 29 September, the first meeting was held with all the professional agricultural organizations, agricultural cooperatives, and business associations representing the sector in Menorca, who expressed their willingness to participate in the process.

During the meeting, key issues were addressed, such as the constitution of the Electoral Board of the Designation, responsible for ensuring the proper development of the procedure; the review of the electoral registers submitted by the CRDO Mahón-Menorca Cheese, and the approval of the electoral calendar, which will determine the next stages of the process.

With this call, the Island Council of Menorca reaffirms its commitment to transparency, participation, and sound management among all the stakeholders involved in the protection, promotion, and sustainability of such an emblematic product as Mahón-Menorca Cheese.
